In 1995, the Borough of Glassboro created the Glassboro Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) to promote and retain commercial business in the downtown area of the community. The GEDC continues to secure many state and federal grants and is working directly with a number of local banks to provide low-interest loans to community business owners.

A façade grant program is helping local businesses improve their storefronts and a neighborhood preservation grant is helping restore houses throughout the town. Several grants have been secured for streetscape beautification programs to add brick pavers
